Subject: A Rare Treat from BCO
Dear Music Lover:
This is a reminder that our April 7th concert, will indeed be a rare treat, not to be missed!
This concert, "Electric Vivaldi" is far more than a 21st century rendition of an old classical music
favorite; the beloved Four Seasons. It is packed with extraordinary performance of other GREAT music
as well. Arthur Foot's Suite in E-Major, by itself is reason enough to attend this concert. This
extraordinary work has been almost literally forgotten about for almost a century. Born in Salem,
MA, in1853, Arthur Foote lived during Europe's most intense period of romantic music
production. He was a contemporary of the greatest composers such as Brahms, Dvorak, Wagner, Lizst,
Strauss and even Mahler. Yet his absence from the European scene virtually guaranteed his relative
obscurity. So here's your chance to listen to one of his best pieces and admire his mastery of
composition.
Mozart's well known, but not too-frequently performed serenade "Eine Kleine Nacht Musik" needs no
introduction. It is our pleasure to bring this enchanting music to the Boulder community.
Finally, we are aware that mixing electronic instruments with traditional orchestra can be, at
times, walking on thin ice, and somewhat unprecedented, but isn't that what music is all about? If
not only for the sake of innovation, this radical remix of Vivaldi will perhaps attract our youth to
come and listen and come to realization that "classical" music is not "classic" music. It's an
evolving, living and timeless art.
Hope to see you at our concert at 7:30, this Friday at the first Baptist Church, 1237 Pine Street.
